The other day I was working on a Facebook “FAN” page for a client of mine and posted an update as a link to a page on his site. I was surprised at how effective the link preview looked – it managed to capture not only a picture from the page but some key text off the page. I was very happy with the results and wanted to brag about a good piece of technology:
I’m still figuring out how to best use these Facebook “FAN” pages – as it’s not just normal HTML. What was also very interesting was how quickly another page is developing FANs – http://www.facebook.com/pages/MuddersMag-Off-Road-Park/209566608817 – I don’t think the “FAN” page has been up for more than a month at it already has over 30 fans – on a site that I just created not that long ago either. Tells you what is popular among people….

I have recently added a business page for my business, search for Jolly Good Productions. I would like to be able to link it to other applications so that I can automatically update my Facebook business page without having to write articles and updates specifically for it ( sharing saves time )It seems that Facebook want everything directing at Facebook and they don’t make it easy to update from external sources. Still, its free so its probably worth the extra time.
Try ping.fm – this is a free service that will let you post to multiple services at the same time. I post an article to my website – which is a wordpress blog. This then goes to ping.fm which posts to my Facebook Page and Twitter. If you write directly to a facebook page you can post to Twitter – as that’s a Facebook option.
