SPAM sometimes is just rude. I just had to clean some SPAM posts off a forum. Not only was it annoying to have to do – it just feels rude to post some completely irrelevant information in a forum – to make someone have to read it. Wouldn’t that be the equivalent of someone interrupting your conversation to ask you to buy something? (You’re talking to a friend in the hallway and someone comes up and ask you to buy some male enhancement product). View full article »

Sometimes I wonder if I’m addicted to information – I find myself enjoying Twitter and Facebook feeds, of listening to informative podcasts, reading books, watching Discover channel type shows, reading web page articles, etc. (sometimes at the same time). I like the mental stimulation – sometimes continuous – to the point that playing with my kids can be boring sometimes. When I’m cleaning the house I usually like the TV on for mental stimulation – at work I listen to podcasts to keep my mind occupied. I’ll even listen to a podcast of the news while walking the dog.
Does that mean I’m addicted or is this a cultural trend? I’m not sure that I’m always spending my time in the best way – as I may be missing some of the quality things in life. I know silence is valuable but I have such a hard time with it. Of course, as I write this I’m watching a football game – as I can’t just sit and watch the game….
Is anyone else tired of all the updates on everything? It gets pretty tiring for me – as it seems like I’m always dealing with updates:
- Windows – anyone else get frustrated when you get back to your computer after it rebooted itself as a result of a security update?
- Web Software – anyone else have to manage keeping applications up to date to keep them secure. If you don’t update then you can be in a lot of trouble.
- DVR – even my DVR gets updated – which can be good or bad depending on what the cable company does.
So now I need to go look at the update my plug-ins for my WordPress blog have – which seems to be a daily activity…..
Right now I have 11 tabs open in one Firefox window and 7 open in another. So how many is too many? I’m not sure that I’m actively looking at all of them but it somehow feels better to have them open – for easy access – allowing you to switch back and forth.
Of course now the browser is becoming more and more dominant is terms of how we live – so maybe having multiple firefox tabs open is like having multiple applications open (not that I don’t do that too). That was one of the points of Google Chrome OS – as it’s just a browser….
